Recent Business Cases
To get an impression of the versatility of Q3ADE, we provide here
a list of applications, recently developed by and for our customers.
CORBA to CMIP gateway for SDH Management
Keywords: CORBA, Mediation, SDH, SONET, TMF 814,
ITU. G.884
A mediation gateway was developed for a large Add Drop Multiplexer
(ADM). The element contained a CORBA server following the TeleManagement
Forum TMF 814 model for SDH & SONET configuration and fault
management. By use of the mediation gateway, doing both protocol
and model mapping, the ADM now also exposed a northbound Q3 (CMIP)
interface following the ITU G.774 information model. The customer
is a major telecom equipment vendor.
NMS with CORBA Northbound for SDH Alarm Management
and SDH Equipment Management
Keywords: CORBA, Mediation, NMS, SDH, ITU. G.884
A network management system (NMS) containing a CORBA server, following
a proprietary model, was supplied with a mediation gateway, which
exposed a northbound Q3 interface following the ITU G.774 and ITU
M.3100 information models. The customer is a major telecom equipment
vendor.
Alarm/performance manager for TL1 based synchronization
equipment
Keywords: TL1, EMS, NMS, Mediation, MySQL, ODBC,
GUI, Java
A Q3ADE 3G based Element/Network Management platform, which receives
TL1 formatted alarm and statistics information, mediates and stores
the information in a MySQL database via an ODBC interface. A GUIDO/Java
based client GUI application (a manager) then displays this alarm
and performance information in realtime.
Network element manager for SDH/SONET ATM equipment
Keywords: SDH, EMS, ATM, SONET, SDH
For a large combined SDH, SONET and ATM switch, a craft terminal
was developed, accessing the Q3 interface of the equipment and providing
equipment management, fault management, performance management and
connection management. The customer is a major telecom equipment
vendor.
Integrated management of different telephone switches
via TL1 and MML
Keywords: Siemens, EWSD, TL1, MML, Alcatel S12,
NEC NEX, CMIP
On top of a number of Siemens ESWD, Alcatel S12 and NEC NEX telephone
switches, a mediation gateway was put, which mediates alarm and
performance management information between TL1 and MML southbound
management interfaces and a northbound Q3 (CMIP) management interface
following an information model common to all the various switches.
Gateway for TL1, SNMP and Q3 based Equipment into
a common CORBA layer
Keywords: CORBA, Q3, CMIP, TL1
The gateway developed performed integrated management of various
equipment based on TL1, SNMP and Q3 exposing a northbound CORBA
management interface common to all the managed equipment i.e. adhering
to a single CORBA IDL specification. The customer is a major telecom
equipment vendor.
SNMP to CORBA mediation gateway for Connection
management of ATM, MPLS and Frame Relay equipment
Keywords: SNMP, CORBA, Ericsson, Connection Management,
ATM, FR, MPLS
For a whole suite of SNMP based network elements, different with
respect to both information model (MIB) and SNMP protocol version
(V1 and V3), a common mediation gateway was developed, which exposed
a common northbound CORBA interface. The customer is Ericsson.
Alarm management for the Danish Railway Administration
Keywords: Nokia, Ericsson, MD110, GIS, SDH, AMS,
Alarm Mediation, Oracle, Railways
An alarm mediation gateway is provided to Danish Railway Administration.
It collects alarm information from various sources like customer
information systems, Nokia SDH equipment, Ericsson MD110 PABX switches
and radio communication systems. The information is mediated and
stored in a common GIS system via Oracle.
Siemens billing information gateway
Keywords: Nokia, Ericsson, MD110, GIS, SDH, AMS,
Alarm Mediation, Oracle
Several customers have used Q3ADE to collect billing information
from Siemens switches (EWSD D900 and others) via Q3, typically to
be stored in a database via e.g. ODBC.
Alarm mediation from EWSD and AXE to TeMIP for
TDC
Keywords: Siemens EWSD, Ericsson AXE, DIAX, TeMIP
TDC (Tele Denmark), the main operator in Denmark is using Q3ADE
for mediating prorietary alarms from 1000+ switches and other equipment
in the TDC's telecom network to a central NCC based on HP/Compaq
TeMIP. The average event frequency is more than 100,000 alarms per
hour with peaks more than 10 times higher. The equipment includes
telephone switches like Ericsson AXE and DIAX, Siemens EWSD, the
danish DANKORT creditcart network and more.
