Using Q3ADE for Manager Testing

Q3ADE may be used for testing third party CMIP Management applications.

You may produce a highly generic Q3/CMIP Agent simulator from your GDMO specification only.
It will support all CMIS operations except actions, which require implementation of the appropriate behavior.

But Q3ADE includes implementation of several generic behaviors from M.3100,G.774, I,751, Q.821, X.739, X.738 etc. which supports simulation of agent behavior way beyond the "plain" GDMO compilation.

You may also use these capabilities as part of a phased development process, since it allows you to produce a fairly capable agent prototype from the GDMO model only. This will allow your Management application developers to start testing long before you have finished the implementation of the actual Q3 Agent. In other words, reduce your time-to-marked by relaxing interdependencies between your development projects.

Using Q3ADE for Agent Testing

Q3ADE contains numerous features for testing 3'rd party TMN Applications as well as TMN Applications based on Q3ADE.

A typical case is the Equipment Vendor who wants to test a CMIP Based Agent developed with a 3'rd party TMN Tool.
Naturally it will be necessary also to develop a CMIP Test Manager or even a complete management system just to test the conformity of the CMIP Agent implementation. And very often the Equipment Vendor finds out that the cost of the CMIP Test Manager will surpass the cost of the actual product, namely the CMIP Agent. Very few TMN Tool vendors provide an integrate package for developing the Agent as well as the manager.

But with Q3ADE you may set up a CMIP Agent test environment without developing a single line of code. It only requires a processing of the relevant GDMO specifications and generation of a Q3ADE executable. No programming is required.

Test scripts may be prepared by means of Q3ADE's script language LMIF.
You may also develop your own management applications based on one of the available CMIS API's.

As a test platform it supports the most popular CMIP profiles based on X.25, CLNP and TCP/IP.
