The availability of geolocation information
through the GPS and an increasing number of Internet services
offering geolocation based information has made it ever more
relevant for a NMS to be able to capture, process and provide
geolocation information. Therefore we have made Q3ADE 3G geolocation
aware under the common term "The GeoLocation
feature".
These are the
GeoLocation based services included with the downloadable Q3ADE 3G
R. 508c1:
Google Maps
Integration
The GeoLocation feature of the NMS
supports registration of the geolocation of equipment, which
may be a repeater station, and antenna, a power station or whatever.
You may then invoke Google Maps to show the actual geographical
location of the equipment on Google Maps. You may even have a route
suggested, if you got a GPS attached to your Q3Browser client (The
graphical User Interface of Q3ADE 3G). A very useful and time saving
feature for the technician in the field.
Incident Resolution Assignment
The Incident Manager may select the technician physically
closest to the equipment affected by an incident using the Incident
Assignment function of the IMGR component. A
simple but very effective means to reduce the MTTR (Mean Time To
Repair) simply by reducing the traveling time of the technicians.
It only requires the technicians to be equipped with a Mobile PC
with a GPS and a Wireless/Mobile Modem.
Equipment Location Reporting
The actual geolocation of equipment may be reported to the Q3ADE
3G server by the technician in the field using the Q3Browser on a
Mobile PC with a GPS and a Wireless/Mobile Modem.
